There are situations when you may need to edit one or several audio files. For example, you have downloaded a large audio book from the Internet and you want to split it into individual chapters. Or you have performed an audio recording from an old tape or vinyl and you want to adjust the recording, for making it sound better. For all these situations, you could just turn to Total Recorder Editor.

This Windows program allows you to edit and customize any kind of audio file, no matter how large it is. After the user installs the application, he is asked whether he would like to create a new audio file, record from various audio sources or import a song from an audio CD. When choosing to import an existing audio file, the user will notice that the interface of Total Recorder Editor features a graphical spectrum view, which allows you to easily view the frequencies of a digital audio file. After the audio file has been loaded, the user can modify it by applying a large number of effects. These effects can be accessed from the left part of the interface.

The effects present in Total Recorder Editor allow you to change the amplitude and compression of the song, add reverb, delay or echo and even change the song’s equalizer settings. The program also includes some dedicated features for fixing badly recorded songs, like the ones which are recorded from old tapes or vinyl discs. Besides providing a large number of effects, Total Recorder Editor also allows you to split a large song into several smaller songs just by selecting the part which should be split using the mouse. By placing the cursor on the graphical spectrum, you are able to select the start and end positions for the split portion of the song. After the song has been edited or split, the user can save it in a wide range of audio formats and can even customize the quality settings for each format separately.

When choosing to record a song, the user can take advantage of any recording source, like the microphone or line-in port of the soundcard. While the recording is in progress, one is able to adjust the master volume and also view the sound level. This can help him determine if the sound is too loud or distorted.

Pros

It allows you to edit and correct any audio file, even larger ones. Besides that, it includes a large number of audio effects. Furthermore, it can record sound from various sources. Moreover, it offers support for numerous audio formats.

Cons

It doesn’t allow you to mix several songs together. Using Total Recorder Editor, you can easily edit and correct any audio file in no time.
